The wilds of the Chilcotin offer a varied terrain for adventurers. Our Lodge Package includes opportunities to cast a line in a crystal clear waters that never cloud, raft or kayak the fast and friendly upper Chilko River, hike in the Coast Mountain ranges and sea kayak on a wilderness lake that stretches more than 55 miles without even so much as a road. The variety of scenery on this trip unfolds in a panorama of changing vistas that you'll not soon forget.

The multi-sport trip includes a variety of very unique and active options. By raft we will challenge the tumultuous class IV+ Lava Canyon and helicopter back to the Lodge at the days end. We'll also sea kayak on pristine Chilko Lake, hike Mount Tullin, mountain bike ride on mountain trails and do a little fly or spin fishing. There's even an option to heli-hike. You do not need to be a fitness fanatic to participate but an aptitude for adventure is a must.

For the fly fisherman, the Chilko is truly world class. This prime location where sockeye salmon and rainbow trout are found together produces some of the best fishing in British Columbia. Large quantities of trophy trout congregate where the river meets the lake (The Lodge at Chilko). Your package includes daily guided fishing by drift boat, jet boat and pontoon along with delightful accommodations, meals and amenities you deserve.

The glaciers surrounding the lake provide the river a constant supply of water while the suspended glacial solids tint the water a lovely cerulean blue. But more importantly for "ursamaniacs" as many as 2 million sockeye salmon spawn in August & September in the river and lake. In the company of professional guides you will float the Chilko in comfortable drift boats so you can watch large numbers of grizzlies and bald eagles feed on this natural phenomenon. Kayakers may also be joined lakeside by our four-pawed friends - cougar, wolf and lynx.

New for 2008, combine 4 days of grizzly bear and salmon viewing with 4 days of whale watching. Participants fly into Chilko Lake for 4 glorious days of sea kayaking, river running, biking and fishing while 2 million salmon spawn at the headwaters. Hundreds of bald eagles join in the festivities while as many as 40 grizzlies jockey for position in these salmon rich waters. This incredible phenomenon can only be topped on your next 4 days as we paddle with pods of killer whales in Johnstone Strait. This decadent and extravagant lodge-to-lodge adventure is available only through ROAM and has limited space in September.
